About Us

What kind of food am I going to get at The Porch?

We serve meals that make us happy; food that we love to cook AND eat!  Our menu is an eclectic mix of familiar foods with things that are altogether surprising and new.  You should really check out our menus to see what we are talking about.

What's your culinary philosophy?

We believe that the best meals start with the best ingredients – and that means fresh and local. On our rooftop, we nurture an annual garden so that we can use fresh-picked herbs and produce in our kitchen everyday. In addition, our roof is also the home to several bee hives, which help to give us a great supply of honey. We’re also proud to partner with local producers & distributors like Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance and Wild Purveyors. You can check out some of our other local partners here.

How would you describe your style of service?

We like to say that The Porch changes pace throughout the day like the neighborhood we are in.  So our service style changes as well.

Breakfast: Though our dining room isn’t open for breakfast, you can pick up breakfast sandwiches and housemade pastries Monday-Friday beginning at 7:00 AM at our walk-up window, located along Schenley Drive.

Lunch: Visiting us for lunch? Grab a menu and don’t forget to check our specials board for daily features. Next, get in line and we’ll take your order and payment at the counter. Once we’ve given you a table number, grab your favorite spot and we’ll deliver your food within minutes. If you need anything, just ask one of our friendly team members. When you’re full, get up and go… we’ll take care of the clean up. No tips necessary!

Brunch/Dinner: Visiting us for dinner or brunch? Expect full service hospitality. When you visit us after a long day or even on a lazy weekend morning, there is nothing better than sitting back, relaxing, and letting someone else do all the work. Whether you prefer to sit in the bar, in the dining room, or outside on our patio, our team will take care of you from the moment you’re welcomed at the front door.

Sounds great!  How do I get a table?

If you’re stopping by for lunch, order and pay at our counter and then sit down wherever you like! At dinner or brunch, just stop by our host stand when you arrive. The Porch is first come, first served, all the time. If you’re on your way, you can skip the line and add yourself to our waitlist before you even get here. Just click here!

I’m a student, do you accept any student payment cards?

As a matter of fact we do - we’ll accept your Panther Funds or Plaid Ca$h.

Can I get a drink while I’m there?

Absolutely! In addition to a great selection of wines, we are proud of our 10 rotating beer taps, where you can find local craft brews. We also have a variety of specialty cocktails, which are best enjoyed on our outdoor porch on a sunny day! Wigle Whiskey and Pittsburgh Winery are just two of our local beverage partners. Not in the mood for an adult drink? Try our housemade soda!

I have a killer bottle of ’97 Napa Cab in my cellar that I’ve been dying to try.  Am I able to bring it to The Porch?

For a $15 corkage fee, we will be happy to serve your wine (which by the way would go perfectly with our rotisserie prime rib!).

I noticed that there is a walk up window on the side of the restaurant by Schenley Drive… what’s up with that?

Our walkup window is geared for our guests looking for something delicious to eat during the morning hours when our dining room is closed. It’s open weekdays from 7:00-11:00 AM and serves made-to-order breakfast sandwiches and tasty housemade pastries. We also have espresso, cappuccino and $1 coffee, roasted specially for us by our friends at Coffee Tree Roasters.

Do you offer private parties?

Yes, we have hosted a multitude of different events including happy hours, holiday parties, rehearsal dinners, and more. We also provide the food service and catering at the nearby Schenley Park Café and Visitors Center. Click here to learn more.
